Walking Through Wimbledon Park On My Way to Another House Cleaning Job

Wimbledon Windmill on Wimbledon Common

Hello, lovelies!

Today, I’m sharing a little slice of my life as I stroll through Wimbledon Park. But Cind, you may say, why Wimbledon, love? SW19 is quite a bit of track from Islington, and from the house you moved in with your kids, isnt’it?

True. But what I’ve learned during my time as a domestic cleaner, is that sometimes, “a man gotta do what a man gotta do”, right?

I have this lovely client, Mrs Hensley, and she lives in Parkside Avenue, SW19. Her house is massive. Have you seen the “mansions” along Parkside? Jees. Anyways. She keeps me busy for almost a whole day. I clean for 7 hours there. And she tips like a true American (although an American she is not, lol).

So, I am right between two of my cleaning jobs. It’s one of those perfect British days where the sun peeks out just enough to warm your face. I’ve just finished sprucing Mrs Hensley’s home, and I’m heading towards another client on Home Park Road. Fancy joining me for the walk?

As I leave Parkside Avenue, my mind is still buzzing with cleaning tips. I am using my work to create blog posts with a bunch of helpful hacks and tips for ordinary (I mean non-professional cleaning people, lol) people to use in their homes. I just used a mix of baking soda and vinegar to make those kitchen counters sparkle. Honestly, it’s like magic in a bottle.

Wimbledon Park is so beautiful at this time of the year. I always let the greenery work its charm and make me smile to chuckling levels. I just love it. The park is a gem – with its vast open spaces, it’s a haven away from the hustle and bustle. Definitely recommend it to anyone, who wants a bit of private me time in the green surroundings of Mother Nature.

Wimbledon Park is more than just a patch of green. It’s steeped in history. Did you know it was once part of the manor of Wimbledon, owned by the famous Spencer family? And here’s a fun fact – the park’s layout was designed by Capability Brown, the famous landscape architect. As I walk, I pass the beautiful Wimbledon Park Lake, glistening under the sun. People are out rowing. I should bring the twins for a little boat ride one weekend. That would be brilliant, wouldn’t it?

This beautiful group of buildings is Wimbledon Park Golf Club. Golf isn’t my thing, but I can appreciate the beautifully manicured lawns. It’s quite similar to keeping a house in tip-top shape – constant care and attention to detail. Speaking of which, I remember a tricky red wine stain I tackled this morning. A bit of elbow grease and my trusty homemade cleaner did the trick. Sweet.

The walk through the park is refreshing. Birds chirping, kids playing, and the occasional dog bounding past. It’s these simple pleasures that make my job even more enjoyable. Balancing work and family can be a challenge, but moments like this make it worthwhile. I often think about new cleaning tips while I walk. Did you know that lemon juice is fantastic for cleaning limescale in the bathroom? And those burned carbon stainless steel griddle plates? Works a miracle every time!

I leave the park and I make my way towards Wimbledon Village. It’s a quaint spot, full of charming cafes and boutique shops. The streets are lined with beautiful houses, each with its own character. Wimbledon Common isn’t far either, with its wild, open spaces and the iconic Wimbledon Windmill. There’s always something new to discover in this area. Life is grand. And SW19 is one great postcode to have in your address.

Finally, I am at my next destination on Home Park Road. Another lovely home waiting to be cleaned and polished. Another couple of hours of gathering domestic cleaning knowledge and experience.

I take a moment to appreciate the journey. Walking through Wimbledon Park is like a mini-break in my day, blending work with a bit of leisure. It reminds me why I love this job – the variety, the balance, and the satisfaction of a job well done. And the people, of course, lol.

So, next time you find yourself in Wimbledon, take a stroll through the park. You never know what little treasures and thoughts you might stumble upon. Now, time to roll up my sleeves and get back to work.
